Country-specific guidance
Do not assume an EHCP, US IEP or another country's process applies here. Use the local education framework and current official guidance.
Mainstream
Many pupils with special educational needs attend mainstream classes with classroom and additional supports.
Special class
A special class is based within a mainstream school and can provide a smaller, more specialised setting.
Special school
Special schools generally serve pupils who need a more specialised setting. Placement decisions should focus on the individual child and current official guidance.
