Editorial Policy
Our goal is to make complicated education systems easier to navigate without overstating certainty or expertise.
1. Jurisdiction comes first
Every high-stakes guide identifies the jurisdiction it applies to. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have different frameworks. US, Canadian and Australian content is organised in separate country or regional sections; Australian state and territory procedures may differ.
2. Primary sources first
For legal, procedural and rights-based content, we prioritise legislation, government guidance, official tribunals, regulators and recognised public-information bodies. Secondary sources may add context but should not replace the primary source for a core rule.
3. Plain English, not false certainty
We explain terms and processes in everyday language. Where local practice can vary, where a rule has exceptions, or where the law is changing, we say so.
4. Review dates and corrections
High-stakes guides display a last-reviewed date. We update material pages when we identify a meaningful change. If you spot an error or a broken official source, use our contact page and identify the page and the issue.
5. Byline transparency
Current guides are maintained by the Special Education Path Editorial Team. We do not claim legal, clinical or special-education credentials that have not been independently established. Any future expert review will be named and described transparently.
6. Australia-specific sourcing and review
For Australian guidance we distinguish national disability discrimination standards from state or territory school procedures and school-sector policies. We do not imply that a general national guide replaces current local rules. Our editorial-team byline is not evidence of a professional endorsement or an external expert review.
7. Information, not individual advice
Our guides are general educational information. They are not legal, medical, clinical or therapeutic advice and cannot account for every individual fact, deadline or local procedure.
8. Commercial independence
Advertising, sponsorship, affiliate relationships or paid visibility must not determine the conclusion of an editorial guide. Commercial relationships are governed by our Sponsor Policy.
9. Community comments
Comments are moderated before publication. Community experiences are not independently verified and must not be treated as professional advice.
