Netherlands: School meetings and evidence
A parent-friendly method for preparing for meetings, recording decisions and keeping an organised evidence trail.
Use this guide to prepare questions and evidence, then confirm current requirements with the school and the responsible national, regional or local education authority.
Before the meeting
Write your three most important concerns, desired outcomes and questions. Send key evidence in advance when appropriate.
During the meeting
Take notes on decisions, actions, responsible people and dates. Ask for unfamiliar terminology to be explained.
After the meeting
Send or request a written record. Correct important misunderstandings promptly and store the record with supporting documents.
Keep it focused
Track patterns over time: support delivered, progress, missed provision, attendance, wellbeing and communication with school.
Check the current framework
The European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education provides country information, national contacts and links to current policy sources. Rules and terminology can change and may differ within a country.
