Information, not legal advice.

Northern Ireland has its own SEN framework and Statements of Special Educational Needs. England EHCP guidance does not apply.

Check the admissions route

EA admissions guidance says children who already have a Statement should not make the ordinary EA Connect application for the placement covered by the SEN process.

Review needs and provision

Explain why a different placement is sought and how it relates to the child’s needs and provision.

Get the decision in writing

If the EA does not agree with the requested placement, ask for the written decision and applicable appeal information.
