Information, not legal advice.

Northern Ireland has its own SEN framework and Statements of Special Educational Needs. England EHCP guidance does not apply.

Special transport need

EA examples include mobility restrictions, wheelchair use, or medical or severe learning needs that mean transport is required to facilitate attendance.

School choice can matter

EA guidance says choosing a school farther away than the nearest suitable provision can affect transport eligibility.

Tell EA about changes

Changes of home, school or relevant needs should be raised with the Statutory Assessment and Review Service because SEN transport arrangements may depend on its instruction.
