Scotland uses the Additional Support for Learning framework. A Co-ordinated Support Plan (CSP) is not the Scottish equivalent of an EHCP for every learner; it has specific statutory criteria.

Start early

Ask what the learner wants after school, what support will be needed and which agencies should be involved.

Record actions and responsibility

A transition plan is more useful when actions, responsible people and dates are clear.

If planning fails

Some failures concerning statutory transition duties can be referred to the Tribunal. Get the authority’s position in writing and seek independent advice promptly.
