Wales uses the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) system and Individual Development Plans (IDPs). England EHCP guidance does not apply.

School evidence

Progress data, attendance, work samples, support plans, intervention records, behaviour or regulation patterns and communications can help show the day-to-day picture.

Professional evidence

Relevant educational, health or social-care advice can add detail, but a medical diagnosis is not a prerequisite for ALN.

Parent and learner views

Give concrete examples and explain priorities. Welsh guidance emphasises transparent, evidence-informed decision-making and clear communication of reasons.
