How to review a draft EHCP
Review whether the plan describes needs clearly, links provision to those needs and reflects the assessment evidence.

Work through the plan systematically
- Check Section B describes all identified special educational needs.
- Check Section F sets out special educational provision for those needs.
- Check outcomes are meaningful and connected to provision.
- Compare the draft with professional advice listed in Section K.
- Record any missing, vague or inconsistent points before responding.
GOV.UK says parents must have at least 15 days to comment on the draft plan.
